About Zodiac Match
Zodiac Match is our sign-first tool. You choose both sun signs, and the result is the average of a name score and a fixed value for that pair from our sign table. Listed pairings score between 70 and 93, and every other pair, including two people with the same sign, scores 65. People use it to compare a partner, a crush or a favourite celebrity couple. It looks only at sun signs, so it leaves out the Moon, the rising sign and the rest of a birth chart that astrologers read.

Why Same-Sign Couples Get a Middle Score
Many astrology fans expect two people of the same sign to score highly, since they share an element and a temperament. In our table, though, a same-sign pair is not listed, so it receives the default value of 65. Averaged with the name score, that usually places same-sign couples in the middle bands.
This is a design choice, not a verdict on same-sign relationships. Astrology writers disagree about these pairs: some see two of the same sign as an easy fit, others as too alike. The elements guide linked below explains the reasoning that most sign tables, including ours, start from.
To see the sign table at work, keep both names the same and change only one sign. The name score stays fixed, so any change in the result comes from the sign pairing alone. Trying all twelve signs against yours shows which pairings the table lists and which fall back to the default value of 65.
How the Result Is Calculated
- What it uses
- The two names and both zodiac (sun) signs.
- The exact method
- Both names are joined in the order you typed them, spaces are removed and the text is lower-cased. We take the CRC32 checksum of that text (a standard way of turning text into a number), then base score = (checksum mod 86) + 15, which always lands between 15 and 100. The Zodiac Match adds +0 to that score. If you pick both zodiac signs, the pair gets a value from a built-in table (70-93 for the pairings listed in it, 65 for every other pair, including two of the same sign) and the final score is the average of the two numbers, rounded. Without both signs, the score is the name score alone.
- Example you can reproduce
- "Rahul" (Leo) + "Priya" (Aries) always gives 85%.
- What it can't tell you
- Sun-sign compatibility is a popular tradition, not science. The table values are fixed choices made for fun.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does Zodiac Match calculate compatibility?
Each pair of sun signs has a fixed value in our table (70-93 for popular pairings, 65 for the rest), loosely inspired by element-based astrology. That value is averaged with a score from your two names.
Which zodiac signs are most compatible?
Signs of the same element often pair naturally — for example fire with fire, or complementary elements like air and fire. The tool gives a playful score for any combination you pick.
Is zodiac compatibility scientifically proven?
No. Astrology is a tradition, not a science, and the values in our sign table are fixed choices.
